Monica Causey, LMSW, LAPSW, currently serves as the Project Coordinator for the Tennessee Parent Information and Resource Center TPIRC). Over the past 5 years, TPIRC as collaborated with over 330 Title 1 and High Priority Schools in Tennessee to increase collaborations, information, and meaningful parental involvement in their child and youth’s academic achievement. This work has included working closely with not only the Tennessee Department of Education but also the Tennessee State PTA. Ms. Causey has had the privilege to present on the work and achievements of these collaborations and partnerships to numerous local, state, regional, and national conferences to include: National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health, National Title 1 Conference, National Coalition of ESEA and Title 1 Parents Conference, and the National PTA Conference. Along with the Tennessee State PTA, TPIRC worked to develop the newly mandated Parental Involvement Standards for all public schools in Tennessee. The collaboration between TPIRC, the Tennessee Department of Education and the Tennessee PTA continues in providing training to LEAs on the standards. |
